RIGHT WING BIAS -- The Bush-spiked Supreme Court has sold out the American people by allowing unlimited anonymous corporate donations to political candidates so billionaires can brainwash the public with deceptive advertising backed up by the right-wing Fox "News" propaganda machine and puppet Tea Party. Of course ABC, CBS, CNN & NBC are culpable as they are also in the big corporate club (excepting MSNBC, PBS and NPR) and they disguise their sins upon the people as patriotism! The republican party should even be investigated for unamerican activities for their policies on privatizing social security, lax regulation of financial institutions, the environment, and health care that are in direct opposition to the good of the American people. IT'S TIME TO MARCH ON CONGRESS IN WASHINGTON, DC TO STOP THE GOP FASCISTS (AND THE KOCH BROTHERS' PHONEY "TEA PARTY" ) FROM STEALING MEDICAL AND RETIREMENT BENEFITS FROM U.S. CITIZENS! The "Occupy Wall Street" movement and its spin-offs across the country are stimulating further debate, and their occupation of Washington, D.C. is morphing into a larger effort to demand action by Congress to work for the American people and not for corporate lobbists and partisan right wing ideologues.
PERSONAL ECONOMICS -- In addition to the need for science and math education in the public schools, personal finance and financial responsibility need to be emphasized, with practical training in managing a checking account, balancing expenses between necessities and leisure activities, as well as developing an appreciation for a healthy, self-sustaining lifestyle.
IGNORANCE -- Unfortunately, Louisiana, South Carolina & Texas (three states who could have benefitted most from the stimulus package) have rejected the stimulus on party lines, at great expense to their citizens. Also the new republican House of Representatives wants to eliminate the new health care plan AND cut states' funding across the board.
JOBS -- Given the poor condition of our cities and national infrastructure (bridges, public works, etc.) and high unemployment, a WPA type jobs program like we had in the 1930's is overdue. Not only would it supply needed improvements but it would also train workers in critical skills and allow their families to remain off the welfare rolls. This is where we should be investing our "extra" $700 Billion.
SOLUTIONS FOR GLOBAL WARMING -- Accommodate climate changes and energy depletion with storm resistant structures, enclosed gardens, telecommuting, "off-the-grid" solar, wind and energy cell utilization, eco-friendly attitudes and regulation.
HOMELAND INFILTRATION -- If a Jihadist invasion of our homeland is occuring under our noses (look at all the cheap motels, quick stop groceries and gas stations owned by far easterners, and perfect for feeding, fueling and quartering an underground army moving around freely in our country), we had better ask the old 60's question: "Am I paranoid? Or are they REALLY out to get us?"
RELIGIOUS FREEDOM -- Conversely, Villa Park city councilwoman Deborah Pauly, and state congressmen Ed Royce and Gary Miller, should be prosecuted for first ammendment violations and anti-muslim hate speech at a peaceful fundraiser for muslim children in Orange County, California.
UNIVERSAL CONSCRIPTION -- In order to deter war, lawmakers would be less inclined to utilize our troops for questionable purposes if their own were among those destined to die in combat. In this regard, I would propose universal conscription as the most fair and effective means to this end. Say, a two year stint from ages 18 to 20 for every man and woman (no exceptions or deferments of any kind) would be required, but allowing special assignments for pacifists and the handicapped -- thereby giving every man and woman in our country the ability to defend against an invasion of our homeland --- and provide a common national consciousness. Of course, incentives would be required to retain officers and career soldiers for more specialized training.
AFGHANISTAN -- Why can't we contract the Poppy Warlords of Afghanistan to supply the producers of medical morphine?
BIG TOBACCO -- Similarly, the tobacco industry in the United States could be converted to the production of medical marijuana; and recreational marijuana could be taxed to bolster our failing state economies while removing the "number one cash crop" of many states from control of the drug cartels and their associated violence.
MEXICO LEGALIZES PERSONAL USE: 5 grams pot, 150 micrograms LSD, 1 gram cocaine, 50 milligrams heroin, 40 milligrams crystal (methedrine), but no word yet on peyote (mescaline), schrooms (psylocibin) or Salvia Divinorum & Ahayuasca (DMT).

CHINESE DISAPPEAR PANCHEN LAMA -- In 1995 the Dalai Lama chose 6-year-old Gendun Cheokyi Nyima as the 11th Panchen Lama, the most exalted figure of Tibetan Buddhism after the Dalai Lama.
The boy and his family soon disappeared and have not been heard from since.
China's communist-led government later named Gyaltsen Norbu as the 11th Panchen Lama and said
Nyima and his family were being kept in a secret location for their protection.
